Krzywy Domek A.K.A. Crooked House in Sopot, Poland can be found on the Baltic Sea in Northern Poland. When looking at it, it seems that the building either has melted in the sun and, therefore, is twisted or that it is just an optical illusion, so to say, a reflection in a huge distorting mirror.

The Crooked House is indeed crooked and does not contain even a single flat spot or angle. It was built in 2004 by two Polish architects Satinsky and Zalewski impressed by the paintings of artists such as Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Oscar Gustav Dahlberg. Their primary task was to create such a structure the appearance of which would attract as many visitors as possible.

In the construction of the building, the architects have realized many unusual and extraordinary ideas; therefore Krzywy Domek has become world-famous. For example, in the design of the house's facade variety of materials ranging from glass to stone were used, while its roof is created using enamelled sheets thanks to which it resembles a curved back of a dragon. The doors, windows, and walls are asymmetrical and fancifully bent; they give the house an appearance of some fabulous izba.

The in-use area of the building is approximately 4000 m2. The ground floor hosts a shopping center, restaurant, cafe, and salon of slot machines, the second floor, in turn, has offices of local radio stations and several museums, while on the third floor, there are pubs and clubs for local youth and city guests. Also, on the ground floor, there is a wall with many signatures, which is a kind of "Wall of Fame" resembling the Avenue of Stars in Hollywood.

In 2009 the building was recognized as one of the seven wonders of the Tricity (Gdynia, Gdansk, and Sopot). Besides, according to a recent poll by a newspaper titled "the Village of Joy," Krzywy Domek topped the list of the fifty most unusual buildings in the world.
