Located in a Chinese province named Henan, Guoliang Tunnel Road is considered to be one of the most dangerous mountain roads in the world. The length of Guoliang Tunnel Road in China is 1.2 km. It is, in fact, a carved in cliffs tunnel linking the village of Guoliang to the outside.
The building of Guoliang Tunnel Road took more than five years, so in may 1977, the tunnel in the cliffs of Taihang replaced a more dangerous stone staircase, by which the peasants from a Chinese countryside named Guoliang could get to nearby towns.
The height of the Guoliang Tunnel Road is about 5 meters, length is 1200 meters, and width is 4 meters. The main danger of this carved in cliffs tunnel are "windows" of different sizes that provide the tunnel with natural light. The total number of the "windows" is 30, all of them have different size and shape, the length of some of them is more than ten meters.
The Guoliang Tunnel Road in China is quite narrow, therefore, free riding through it can be done only by bike or a small car, although buses with tourists also quite often ride through it. Note that the Guoliang Tunnel Road does not forgive mistakes, which is why drivers should constantly watch the oncoming traffic and move very slowly and carefully in order to avoid accidents.
In recent time, China began to actively develop tourism, therefore, the Guoliang road has become one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country.
Besides, it is also worth noting that although the "windows" pose a great danger, on the other hand, they allow you to admire the surroundings and beautiful scenery of the local nature.
