The island's name comes from the great Christian holiday - Easter. On that day in 1722, the Dutch seamen set foot on the island's ground.

Besides, Easter Island is a treasure trove of legends, and they all boil down to the Moai statues. According to one version, each statue took its place on the island independently. The local language has even a special word to express slow movement without legs. However, how can Moai Statues of Easter Island move alone, if their weight is about 6 tons, and the height of each statue is up to 12 meters?
